A Character Interview Involving Faeries, Werepanthers, and True Tall Tales

Lynzi Lancaster, the heroine from Larynn Ford’s latest release, Dreams Do Come True, has agreed to an interview for today’s blog post. This is Lynzi’s second book. We met her for the first time in In My Wildest Dreams, where she learns there is more to this world than, well, humans. In her second book, she learns there is even more to this world than just humans and Fae.

These books are a fascinating twist to the paranormal romantic genre. Here’s the blurb for Dreams Do Come True:

Back to the interview … Lynzi and I sit together at a tiny two-top table in a cozy tea room, and as soon as our Earl Grey and finger sandwiches are served, I get down to the business of asking questions.

 

Tami’s Thoughts: Tell us about yourself. Do you consider yourself your author’s muse or bane of her existence?

Lynzi Lancaster: I’d sure like to think I inspire Larynn but in all honesty, my life is just simple and ordinary. Well, with the exception of my fiancé, Layne Brady, who happens to be from another world. It’s still hard for me to believe. I may have encouraged Larynn to push the phrase, ‘in my wildest dreams’ to its limits, but really, who would have ever thought a little ‘ol country girl from Alabama would stumble into the paranormal world and be so darn happy? Mercy!

 

 TT: Good point. we’re impressed. You seem to handle such a wild discovery with aplomb. Which leads to our second question: What do you think readers like best about you?

LL: I admire strong women and I think readers like women who can grab hold of any situation and resolve matters. That’s how I was raised and that’s who I am.

 

TT: What do you think is your least, um, attractive trait?

LL: Some may think I didn’t try hard enough to find happiness after Layne disappeared from my life all those years ago. What can I say? The heart knows best. Aunt Pet said sometimes the head doesn’t listen to the heart. Maybe that was a lesson I had to learn the hard way.

 

TT: So, Layne is, what? Your boyfriend? Husband? Tell us about him. 

LL: Layne and I do finally tie the knot in Dreams Do Come True. It was love at first sight for me. I met Layne in my teens and fell head over heels in love. He’s tall, muscular, and a dream to look at. Because he’s Fae, he has a protective nature that just won’t quit. As a bonus, having been raised in the human world, he understands the emotions we experience and is so patient with my many female moods. I think that makes him extraordinary.

 

TT: Okay, we have to have a little naughty fun. Favorite place to seduce Layne?

LL: I love the look of urgency on Layne’s face when we’re in a crowded situation and I set the wheels in his mind in motion by sending that I’m in the mood message to him. It’s funny the excuses he makes before he whisks us away to a quiet, secluded location. He’s used: we left the water running, we need to feed the animals, or my personal favorite– Lynzi needs to lie down.

 

TT: Ha! The last one is the best, for certain. Just to turn things around a bit, tell us, what do you wish Layne better understood about you?

LL: My protective nature. He was raised in the human world. His human mother is a strong woman so he’s not surprised by my need to take care of everything. However his protective, take-charge Fae nature overrides that understanding sometimes, okay most of the time. We butt heads on occasion but our bond shines through.

 

TT: I imagine he often feels conflicted. Good thing he is strong enough to handle it. Here’s another questions: If you could rewrite one scene in the book, what would it be? How would you rewrite?

LL: It broke my heart to see poor Boone have his world torn apart by the truths his brother revealed to him. He wanted desperately to save his relationship with his brother, knowing his father was a lost cause. I’m sure Larynn wouldn’t be pleased if I rewrote the sad parts and replaced them with all happiness, but I would if I could.

 

TT: We understand, we really do. As much as the conflict and sadness makes for fabulous reading, we still all want our happily ever after. That’s why we keep reading, right? Speaking of reading, has Larynn  ever put you into an embarrassing situation? How did you handle it?

LL: My mouth tends to get me in trouble and Larynn allows me to ramble on. She could filter me a bit more but I think she finds my babbling amusing.

 

TT: That’s funny. Sorry, I know that’s not fair. But I think we’re on Larynn’s side here. Okay, tell us what you are particularly proud of in this book. 

LL: I am so proud to be a part of Layne’s family . . . both his families, and to be accepted by every being in the Fae world. That is except for Allvis. In his case, I’m just glad to still be alive.

 

TT: That last part sounds intriguing. Like there might be more to come … On that note I think we’re just about out of time. Before we go, would you like to add anything else?

LL: I’d like to thank Larynn for holding my story close to her heart like I held Layne in my heart and for all those years. I think we make great partners at happy ever after.
