Craving Cocktails?

Last Chance Beach is the island paradise where Dreams go to live again, and Wishes come true.

The legend of Last Chance Beach goes something like this. Poor guy begs passage from wealthy ship owner. Poor guy gets banished to the ship’s hold for falling in love with the ship owner’s daughter.  Poor guy escapes. Daughter goes off to find him, runs out of money, and is taken in by a minister and his wife. As luck would have it, these are the same folks who took in the poor guy when he swam ashore battered and bloody. The lovers reunite.

These 14 short stories—created especially for this collection are designed to thrill the hopeful romantic in you and make you believe in second chances! What’s more, they’re written by award winning authors, and the boxset is less than a dollar.

Naturally, when reached out to, I jumped at the chance of creating an island where happily ever after is guaranteed.  My contribution to these 14 stories is titled One Last Shot.

Imagine what happens when a rising sitcom star’s sex tape goes viral, and she escapes to the beach to discover, renting next door, is a disgraced celebrity photographer?

Video Gone Viral + Beach Escape + Unlikely Romance = One Last Shot

Here’s an excerpt for your reading pleasure.

Damn! Damn! Damn! She’d been such a fool to date John Lewis. It wasn’t as if he’d made her want to jump his bones. The man was an accountant, average Joe. But Average Joe made her feel safe in an unpredictable world. Now she no longer trusted her judgement.

That had been one close call earlier at Rod’s. Thankfully, she hadn’t been seated anywhere near the TV or her expression might have given her away. Who would have thought that Dania Browne’s sex tape was still big news, and even the construction workers on Last Chance Beach  were talking about her? Now that she’d disappeared, she’d become even bigger news.

The pink hair, tats, and nose ring were all window dressing. Deep down, she was still the same person; a preacher’s daughter with the dream of one day becoming a big Broadway star. So, when her world toppled down around her, she’d run to the one place that she’d always felt safe. Last Chance Beach. Here, Dania didn’t feel judged. She was not the two-headed woman at a freak show.

The house phone rang. Dania let it ring. Anyone who knew her well had her mobile number. But what if it was Waves, the little grocery store, with this week’s delivery? From the moment she’d discovered the little mart delivered, she’d jumped on that service, asking them to leave her orders at the front door. That at least took care of going into town often or taking the ferry back to the mainland. She hadn’t trusted the grocery store clerk with her cell number, so she’d given them the house.

The house phone rang again, prompting her to answer. “Hello.”

“Kael here. Looked you up in the white pages and figured this was the best way to get in touch. Didn’t think you’d want me at the front door.”
