This one has never been on sale before! Grab it now, because it’s only on sale for the weekend!

In this first book of the Twisted Fate Series, there are two kinds of shapeshifters: Rakshasa and Light Ones.

The Rakshasa want to snack on human bones. The Light Ones want to protect the humans.

Unfortunately, the Rakshasa are currently winning the battle, as the Light Ones are not fertile. Only one type of Light One, exceedingly rare females called Chala, are able to produce children. The Rakshasa know this, and have managed to nearly decimate the population.

Enter Gavin Rowan, a cursed Rakshasa who believes he is a Light One. He feels all his Rakshasa urges to kill, but has been cursed to protect the Light Ones instead of kill them.

Throw Sydney Amataya into the mix. She is a Chala – except she doesn’t know it. At least not until Gavin saves her from a Rakshasa attack and then declares her as his mate.

But Sydney doesn’t play like that. If he wants to mate with her – once she gets over the shock of discovering this supernatural world, that is – he’s going to have to woo her, impress her, wine and dine her. Romance her. She deserves no less, end of the world be damned.

Desire – In the North AND South!

Today is release day for Desire in the Arctic! Happy Release Day, Stacy!!

This action/adventure contemporary romance manages to get steamy in a place that is very cold—the Arctic Circle. The hero and heroine need to survive in Alaska’s Gates of the Arctic National Park, the only US Park located in the Arctic Circle.

According to author Stacy Hoff, researching this remote location was a challenge unto itself. There is very little information about it, and fewer photos. The US. Parks Department has no park rangers on site and recommends that only experience campers attempt a visit. Those who do need to access the park by private plane, or risk crossing a ranging river after a five mile hike from the nearest highway. Snowstorms can happen almost all year round, even in July.

The things authors do to bring readers a good story…

Desire in the Arctic is the sequel to Desire in the Everglades but can be read as a stand-alone novel. For those curious about Desire in the Everglades, a 2015 BTS Red Carpet Award “rising Star” nominee, the book blurb for that one’s included, too.
DesireInTheArctic600What’s this sequel with the sexy cover about, anyway?

Now, let’s head waaaaay south for the book blurb for Desire in the Everglades:

DesireintheEverglades400Stephanie Lang’s successful career as a television producer can’t give her everything she wants out of life. Her personal goals of writing a romance novel and finding true love languish. Emotionally scarred by her fiancé’s affair with her cousin, she doesn’t have the confidence to go after either goal again. At least she has professional confidence to fall back on; she is ready to produce the company’s next hit show. But when her boss reveals what the show is about, a survival documentary starring a sexy hunk, Stephanie’s life is turned upside down.

Colin Brandt, billed as “The Evergladiator,” will tackle Florida’s Everglades with nothing more than his bare hands and a knife. Stephanie, instantly attracted to handsome, rugged, enigmatic Colin, worries he will not survive his twelve-day odyssey. If he does, he’ll win a million dollars. If he fails, his beloved family’s farm will go into foreclosure. Can Colin conquer the Everglades? And can he conquer her heart?

Who’s the Bad Guy with Victoria Pinder

It’s Mad May, and today I’m featuring a book written by Victoria Pinder. I’ll let you in on a secret: I love, love, love books with a twist. Especially the kind of twist where the reader thinks someone else is the bad guy, when really… Boom! Surprise antagonist. The kind that keeps you reading well past a sane person’s bedtime. Did I mention how much I love books like that?

Borrowing the Doctor is THAT kind of book. First, check out the excerpt. Then, check out the blurb. Then click the buy link. You know you want to. I know I do.

‘My sister Kate thinks she’s so much better than me. I’m the one Daddy trained to run the fashion empire, not her. I’m the one who found myself a rich guy to marry to ensure we stayed on top, no matter what. All Kate does is patronize me. She’s so stupid. I hate her. She lives in her little condo with her dog and avoids me. I sent her my wedding invitation though, so with luck she’ll come. I need her to get momma’s necklace. It’s in the bank. First I have to get her to the Grand Cayman which I can with this wedding. Second I’ll have to get her to the bank as the security box is in her name. Third I’ll have to get her to give me the necklace. Then I’ll have everything and she’ll have nothing.’

“Stephanie, where are you?”

“Here, my sweet love.”

Eric’s such an idiot. She smiled at him and lifted her shoulders as he came toward her. As he pressed his lips toward her, she sighed. At least he’s good in bed.

“What were you doing?”

“Writing in my diary.”

“Why?”

“Collecting wedding thoughts so I can ensure our day is perfect, my love.”

“My parents can’t come.”

“Why?”

“My sister is missing. My cousins will be there.”

“I sent our invitation to my sister. Part of me wants her to come. Part of me is scared she’ll ruin everything. Eric, please help me find someone who can babysit Kate and keep her out of my hair.”

“I will think of someone, sweetheart.”

He walked out of the room. She rolled her eyes. Eric was a means to an end. She needed his money, for now. She clutched her hands together. Kate Sparrow had to give her what she wanted. Stephanie Sparrow deserved to have it all.

Another Excerpt!

Daniel slid into his seat and away from Eric, but his arms remained tense. His brothers wouldn’t like this plan. He didn’t like this plan. “I’m to babysit the spoiled rich princess and keep her away from the cops and the alcohol, this trip.”

He pressed his lips together. He expected his brothers to have an opinion, but silence greeted his ears.

All eyes went back to the door.

His collar grew warmer. Daniel glanced around to stare in the same direction. He assumed Kate Sparrow had stepped into the club.

His eyes scanned the room, and then the crowds parted. He had his first look. Time might have stopped, and he heard his own heartbeat. Brown hair with a bit of a curl, brown eyes, small frame, unusually large breasts for a woman her size, and an energy that took his breath away. He also noted that Kate’s eyes held a gleam, and Daniel’s mouth fell open. Kate Sparrow was the most beautiful woman he’d seen in a long while.

Beauty meant trouble. He turned back to his beer and refused to stare at her.

The pictures in the papers hadn’t done her justice at all. How did they turn that pretty woman into a viper with a camera? His mind raced. Did she have a Jekyll and Hyde personality that came out at night?

How about a tempting recipe from the author? My mouth started watering while I read the ingredients below. I can’t wait to convince my husband to make these scones (yeah – I’m not the cook in my relationship):

Lemon Apricot Scones

scones3-500

• 2 cups all purpose flour

• 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar

• 1 tablespoon baking powder

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 3/4 cup chopped dried apricots (about 4 1/2 ounces)

• 2 tablespoon grated lemon peel

• 1 1/4 cups whipping cream

• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Preheat oven to 425°F

Mix 2 cups flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt in large bowl. Stir in apricots and 1 tablespoon lemon peel. Add whipping cream and stir just until dough forms. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface.

Knead gently just until dough holds together. Form dough into 10-inch-diameter, 1/2-inch-thick round. Cut into 12 wedges.

Transfer wedges to large, parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing evenly. Combine remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon lemon peel in small bowl. Brush scones with melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar mixture. Bake scones until light golden brown, about 15 minutes. Transfer to rack and cool slightly. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cool completely. Wrap in foil; store at room temperature.) Serve scones warm or at room temperature. Recipe Adapted from Epicurious.com (Bon Appetit) 1998

After being a “closet” writer for several years, she sent her manuscripts out there and is now published with Soul Mate Publishing. And she couldn’t be happier! A resident of Western New York, she moved from one Rochester to another Rochester to be with the love of her life. Writing and Recipes… And Werewolves

For the first Appetizing April blog post, this one certainly packs a punch. It has a vegetarian caterer, a cult, werewolves, suspense, a delicious recipe for lasagna, a writer after my own heart (she loves wine; we bonded instantly), a website with a super cool name, and of course, love! Are you ready? Read on…

Frank Lloyd Wright said: “Dining is and always was a great artistic opportunity.”

Lucy Callahan, the heroine of And Jericho Burned, is a vegetarian caterer. Because she’s a chef, she was assigned to the cook house when she was held captive in her crazy brother-in-law’s cult. There wasn’t much there for her to cook: ancient, withered carrots; bug-infested rice; and dried beans. She didn’t even have onions, garlic, or other seasonings with which to make the thin soup more palatable.

And because the members of the cult were hungry, Lucy thought she knew the perfect way to reach them: a wedding banquet to celebrate her marriage to Stoker. Who happens to be a werewolf. You know: a carnivore. A guy whose favorite restaurant is a sushi bar.

So what does a vegetarian caterer cook for flesh-loving werewolves?

Lucy’s wedding feast was strictly vegetarian. Greens were good for belly aches, but not much else, or so Ethan had told her, earning a smack from Stoker for his rudeness.

I didn’t go into details in the book, but I did think about what Lucy would have made for the banquet.

There would have been berries of some sort. Berries are a very important part of a werewolf’s mating ritual.

From Moonlight Serenade (March 2014, Soul Mate Publishing):

“Find me some blueberries or strawberries instead.” Tokarz reached for his wallet as he gave the order.

Restin wanted to laugh at the expression on Luke’s face. Luke gulped, nodded, and took Tokarz’s money.

“You’re serious about claiming the woman as your mate,” Restin said once Luke had left.

“That’s what the traditional mating meal usually means,” Tokarz said.

From And Jericho Burned (February 2015, Soul Mate Publishing):

“Offering berries to one’s mate–one’s wife–is a custom with us,” Stoker said. “They make her smell sexy.”

Lucy’s brows rushed together, the skin between them furrowing into a deep vee. “Is that why you order blueberry muffins for my breakfast every morning? So I’ll smell sexy?”

Stoker nodded, his gaze never leaving her face.

She grinned. “Cool.”

So there definitely would have been berries of some sort at the feast. After all, the groom and his entourage are all werewolves.

Vegetarian Lasagna would have been a good entrée to feed a crowd of people. It would also be a good way to sneak some important nutrients into the cult’s diet. Lucy’s soft-hearted like that.

lasagna

This recipe makes one 9×11 pan of lasagna. (Lucy would have made several batches.)

  • 1 15-oz container ricotta cheese
  • 3 TBS grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup finely shredded carrot
  • ½ cup finely shredded unpeeled zucchini, excess moisture squeezed out
  • 1 tsp dried parsley flakes OR 1 TBS fresh chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp dried basil leaf OR 1 TBS fresh chopped basil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (more if you’re afraid of vampires)
  • A few grinds of black pepper
  • 12 lasagna noodles, partially cooked
  • 64 ounces of tomato sauce (homemade or your choice from a jar)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Additional grated Parmesan cheese

PREHEAT OVEN TO 375F

  1. Combine the first 8 ingredients to form filling
  2. Spread ¼ of the sauce on bottom of lasagna pan to cover
  3. Lay down 4 lasagna noodles
  4. Spread one half of filling over noodles
  5. Cover with ¼ of the sauce
  6. Sprinkle with ½ of the shredded mozzarella cheese
  7. Lay down 4 lasagna noodles
  8. Spread remaining filling over noodles
  9. Cover with ¼ of the sauce
  10. Sprinkle with remaining shredded mozzarella cheese
  11. Lay down 4 lasagna noodles
  12. Cover with remainder of sauce.
  13. Cover with grated Parmasan
  14. Bake 45 minutes at 375F. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting into squares and plating. Makes 12-15 servings.

Let’s have a look at the cover, and check out the blurb for And Jericho Burned:

And Jericho Burned CoverAND JERICHO BURNED

By MJ Compton

Lucy Callahan will do anything to rescue her sister from a cult, even marry a werewolf she’s just met. But the werewolves are working undercover for the government, and Lucy fears a confrontation between the agents and the cult could be deadly.

Stoker Smith longs to be the best thing that ever happened to his human mate. He wants to take her home, start their family, and compose his music. And although his pack’s treaty with the government says he doesn’t have to work undercover now that he’s mated, he promised Lucy he’d get her sister out of the cult’s heavily armed compound. Lucy’s sister is now family and to a werewolf, family is everything.

But Operation Jericho quickly turns ugly, thrusting Lucy into the middle of her worst nightmare, where she must choose: her sister or the mate she’s grown to love.

Who is this MJ Compton anyway?

MJ Compton Author PhotoMJ Compton grew up near Cardiff, New York, a place best known for its giant, which turned out to be a fiction so incredible, PT Barnum himself borrowed it. That’s a tough act to follow, but MJ tried—by composing her own stories.

Although her 30-year career in local television included such highlights as being bitten by a lion, preempting a US President for a college basketball game, giving a three-time world champion boxer a few black eyes, a mention in the Drudge Report, and meeting her husband, MJ’s urge to create her own stories never went away.

MJ still lives in upstate New York with her husband. She’s a member of Romance Writers of America and Central New York Romance Writers. Music and cooking are two of her passions, and she enjoys baseball and college basketball, but she’s primarily focused on wine . . . and writing.

Weddings, Crystals, and Stars Align

For my next Matrimonial March post, I want to introduce you to a book called Checkmate First Mate. The entire book is about a wedding – actually, it’s about the three weeks prior to a wedding. The maid-of-honor and mother-of-the-bride don’t have dates, until two sexy marine mechanics wash up on shore thanks to a boating incident.

What is this, you say? Here’s the blurb:

Reiki masters, crystals and astrologers… oh my!

Adam McGiver is a Coast Guard EMT, on injured reserve, and thinks all of the above are an interesting waste of time. The stars are for navigation on the seas.

 Melanie Cramer, third generation of psychics and healers, charts her life by the stars but prefers to spend her days with computers. She’s ready to embark on a global adventure dedicated to databases.

When Adam rescues Melanie from a boat that’s dead in the water, they are sure they’ve met before but soon hope they never meet again. These star-crossed lovers are desperate to outrun their fated attraction. But the universe, through their friends and family, tightens a romantic noose around them as wedding dates, before Melanie flies off to the other side of the world, and Adam sails away in the opposite direction.

Will they still be in love sometime next year? Or are they just two ships that passed in the night?

Here’s another fun teaser. Darla is fourteen years old and is interviewing her cousin Susan and her Uncle Dave, both characters from Checkmate First Mate, as part of a school project. Check out how Darla manages to bring out their personalities:

An interview with my cousin, Susan McGiver, and Susan’s father, Dave, as they are potential chaperones for my school trip next month – by Darla Williams.

Darla Williams: Thanks for agreeing to this interview and finally applying for passports. Your answers are so my friends and the trip coordinators get a more personal connection with you before we go.

Susan McGiver: We’ve applied but if and when we get passports is a variable. Going to Paris in a few weeks is not in my plan.

Darla: I’m using positive affirmation. I know neither of you ever go anywhere and at least we know you’re not trying to scam us for a free trip.

Dave McGiver: Darla, Darling, is this really a school requested interview or are you just having fun at our expense?

Darla: It’s both, Uncle Dave, okay? My first question is about how you two just attended a big formal wedding as escorts to primary players in the bridal party. This is the most exciting thing either of you have done my whole life. Yet, you didn’t know any of these people until three weeks ago.

Susan: Jake is a friend of the groom, and once we met Jake asked me to be his wedding date. Nothing unusual there. Dad escorting the mother-of-the-bride was a surprise.

Dave: Not really. Ruth is a friend of your grandmother and she’s been coming here for a dinner party each week for the past few months. It was two weeks to the event and Ruth realized she didn’t have a date yet and asked me to do the honors as her escort.

Darla: Then what was I hearing about the maid-of-honor?

Dave: That’s where the story gets fun, and her date was your uncle Adam.

Susan: Here’s what happened, Jake was going to escort the maid-of-honor even though she’s tiny and he’s six-four. They were boating with the bride and groom and had problems so needed a tow. Adam got that call and went to the rescue. That’s when the maid-of-honor met him. I took Adam out for dinner as thanks for fixing my car and the coincidence was the others had just met for dinner at the same time and place, like fate, and we made it a party of six. It was love-at-first-sight for me and Jake, which it was for Adam and the maid-of-honor though those two are still in denial. So when Ruth asked Dave to escort her two days later, and he said yes, she also invited Adam to the wedding so Dave would know someone at the party. As soon as the bride learned Adam was going to the wedding, she assigned him to be the maid-of-honor’s wedding date. That meant Jake was free to ask me. Of course I said yes.

Darla: Okay, now it makes more sense because Adam does all kinds of adventures all the time. But neither of you have dated anyone my whole life. What’s up with that?

Dave: It’s because our lives are interesting enough.

Darla: Uncle Dave, all you do is work on boats, and Susan you take pictures of them.

Susan: Darla, you just turned fourteen. Any adventures you’ve had so far are because your parents made them happen. You have a passport because they do.

Darla: And now both of you are dating these great people who travel the world and speak other languages. Will you two now leave the marina for at least a vacation someday?

Dave: I escorted Ruth to her daughter’s wedding. That doesn’t mean we are dating.

Darla: Why is that? Ruth is great and she speaks fluent French. Can you talk her into being a chaperone for my trip? Even if you aren’t dating? I could really use someone local to have French conversations with these next weeks.

Dave: Your grandma is the one to arrange future contact with Ruth. I’m sure she’d love to talk French with you, and she lives near your new house.

Darla: All right, I’ll talk to grandma. So Susan, how much longer will you be dating Jake? Mom said you never had a guy around longer than a month.

Susan: Then we’ve got at least another week together.

Marisa Dillon’s Favorite Day of the Year: January First

Instead of listing a bunch of resolutions I won’t keep, I thought I’d feature an author on my blog today. It’s the perfect way to ring in the new year, I think. Why? Because I love meeting new authors and falling in love with their books, and since I’m a reader as well as a writer, I suspect I’m not alone in that feeling. So today you get to meet a new (to me) author! Hopefully, you’ll add her book to your TBR, read it, fall in love, and eagerly look forward to her next release. Enjoy!

*

Happy New Year! Thank you, Tami, for inviting to be a guest on your blog today. January 1st is one of my favorite days of the year. I think of it as a chance to reboot my life. When I’m not writing, I work in sales and marketing, where I’m used to setting and attending goals. Instead of making a lot of resolutions on what to change on New Year’s Day, I’d rather set goals and dream big. And I encourage visitors today, who are either authors or would-be authors, to join me.

I like this idea…

Happy New Year 365

Yes, if you think about setting the goal to write a book in 2015, now is a perfect time to start. Don’t worry about word count, an outline, or character development sheets. Like Nike’s iconic slogan, “Just do it.”

That’s what I did when I set about writing my first manuscript. It started out as an on-line class, and after a year of working on the first draft, I had done something most people only talk about. A first draft.

Marisa_Dillon_author pic

After a contract, and time under a talented editor at Soul Mate Publishing, The Lady of the Garter, my debut novel, was just released on Amazon.

The story is set in 1486, at the end of War of the Roses, when a new king units the Lancastrians and Yorkist to form the legendary House of Tudor. The book opens in a knight’s jousting pavilion in the lower bailey of Warrick Castle. My goal was to write a page turner, a romantic adventure, and fortunately, my reviewers agree.

Here’s the overview:

When Henry VII takes the throne, not all are loyal to the new king. Garter knight, Sir James, is charged with bringing dissenters to justice. Determined to fulfill his vows, he’s unprepared for Lady Elena, a girl from his past.

Lady Elena defies her family and disguises herself as a squire to reunite with the man she’s always loved. She might be able to wield a sword, but she still possesses a woman’s heart.

Thrust into a world of danger and family rivalry, James and Elena face the ultimate test.

Can James avenge his father’s death and find passion, or will his Garter oaths hold him to a life of service without love?

A sneak peek…

A group of boys, full of more than mischief, nearly knocked her off her perch before she found her knight on the field.

Her breath caught when she eyed the too familiar golden mane of hair. It whipped wildly in the wind. Sitting atop his warhorse in full armor, he did not disappoint. He was everything she’d imagined and remembered. He radiated courage, strength, nobility, and pride. She pitied his opponent.

Close enough to catch his attention with a shout, the temptation passed quickly. Instead, she would admire his handsome features. With a square jaw, a narrow straight nose, and a wicked smile, he represented everything she’d always been attracted to in a man. He was exquisitely made. She’d seen tapestries of the Greek Gods and even they could not compare. Oh yes, and those steel-blue eyes, the same color of the three lions emblazoned on his shield. His black destrier wore matching marks on its ornamented trapper and pawed the ground impatiently, as ready for action as his esteemed rider.

William startled her when he grabbed her by the waist and attempted to pull her off the fence. She resisted, slapping at his hands. No, she didn’t want to take her eyes off her knight. Not yet. Never. She’d waited too long for this moment.

“You there, Squire,” a noble shouted to William above the fray, “who are the knights that take up their arms on the tournament field?”

William let go.

“God’s teeth, didn’t you check the lists?” William answered. “Tis Sir James and Sir Hugh, both Garter knight champions. With King Henry in attendance, will make for a fine competition.”

“No. I just arrived at Warwick Castle from the north,” the man explained. “I ask not about these knights now,” he said, pointing toward the jousting area. “Who was the champion just leaving the field? The victor with the bloodied lance?”

“Sir Nicholas, the king’s cousin,” William answered, then leaned against the railing behind him. “What is the importance?”

“The man’s brutal style of fighting. I thought this tourney was in honor of the king’s marriage. Why the excessive violence?”

Elena could have answered. Her father had warned her about Sir Nicholas Luttrell. Although relatively unknown in Warwickshire, his sordid family history wasn’t. The man lived beyond the law. And now that he was part of the new House of Tudor, uniting the Yorkists and Lancastrians, he made his own decrees. Yet, this newly appointed Earl of Dunster, still lived in obscurity. No one outside the royal family had seen him in years, until today. And even then, he’d been helmeted while on the field.

A trumpet blast interrupted Elena’s thoughts. It also silenced the crowd. Everyone watched as the next competitors prepared to enter the field.

Elena eyed her brother’s friend, Jacob, the third squire who was assigned to James. He would manage the armor and was ready with the lances. She wouldn’t be needed until later, affording her time to watch the match from the sidelines.

She laughed nervously as James struggled to tame his wind-blown mane before covering it with his helmet. Now fully dressed, he took the lance from Jacob. With all the ceremonial decorum completed, the knights’ restless mounts were released.

Elena squeezed her eyes shut, afraid of what was to come. But the sounds of snapping lances and snorting warhorses forced them open again. Damn her curiosity.

2015 Epic Adventures

Adventure is easy from the safety of your couch, when you’re reading a great book, but don’t think it’s just for the fictional characters. Use the inspiration from the books you read to get outside your comfort zone. And let my character, Elena, The Lady of the Garter, be your muse.

Home Is Where The Hunk Is – My #Review

Today, I’m blogging about fellow author Nancy Fraser, and her latest release, Home Is Where The Hunk Is, which came out in October. I’m not gonna lie; this is one of those books that defines the concept of judging a book by its cover. Seriously, it’s gorgeous. Tell me you don’t agree:
HomeIsWhereTheHunkIs

Here’s the book blurb:

When globe-trotting photographer Allison Cain comes home to her family ranch in Montana it’s to get to know her nephew and to make amends with the widowed brother-in-law she’s left alone to raise his young son.

Evan Carver could never deny his late wife’s younger sister anything, despite the fact she’s been conspicuously absent over the past three years since her sister’s death. Now she’s home again on what she’s called an extended vacation. Evan’s first concern is for his son, Cody, and how his aunt’s visit will affect the five year old when she decides to return to her high profile career.

Allison has no intention of going back to work. In addition to getting to know Cody, she needs to confess her biggest secret to Evan. How do you tell the man you’ve always loved that you’re not just his son’s aunt, but also his mother?

~~~
I had the pleasure of recently reading this book, and I figured I’d share my review with you all.
Home is Where the Hunk Is is a story about inadvertent deceptions and secret loves, with a ranch in Montana as a backdrop. It isn’t quite a western, but there are a lot of elements that would appeal to those who enjoy reading western romance. The author does a wonderful job of describing ranch life, of making the reader feel as though we are there, on the ranch, with Ali, Evan, and Cody.
Ali and Evan have known one another forever, as their parents’ ranches butted up against one another. Ali has harbored a crush on Evan since she hit puberty, and was forced to watch from the sidelines while he courted and eventually married her older sister, Elaine. When Elaine approached her about being a surrogate mother to their child, Ali thought she was doing the right thing by agreeing. She didn’t find out Evan didn’t want her to be the surrogate until it was too late. Now, Ali is back home, on the ranch she has always loved, and is determined to do right by her son, and his father.
Cody is the adorable outcome of Ali’s decision to become Evan and Elaine’s surrogate. He is such a charming child, the reader will not be able to help falling in love with him – or his wonderfully mischievous puppy, Riley.
Evan is Cody’s father, Ali’s brother-in-law, and the object of her desires. His wife died of cancer, and he’s just trying to raise his son and take care of the combined ranches. And trying to keep his hands off his sister-in-law, because he figures she’s only in town for a short while, and then she’ll leave again and possibly leave him with a  broken heart. He doesn’t know she’s Cody’s biological mother, or that she intends to stay forever – if he’ll let her. While I am not necessarily a fan of men who expect men and women to hold to traditional roles in their relationships, I know there are many, many readers out there who would swoon at the idea of a man who is determined to take care of everything. Those readers will love Evan, and will wish they could take him home to take care of a few chores around their house.
I give Home Is Where The Hunk Is four stars. It’s an easy, enjoyable read, and to be perfectly honest, it made me want to take a vacation out to Montana, to find that secret swimming hole with the waterfall, where it all began for Ali and Evan.
Are you interested in learning more about the author? Here’s Nancy’s bio:
Like most authors, Nancy Fraser began writing at an early age, usually on the walls and with crayons or, heaven forbid, permanent markers. Her love of writing often made her the English teacher’s pet, which, of course, resulted in a whole lot of teasing. Still, it was worth it.
When not writing (which is almost never), Nancy dotes on her five beautiful grandchildren and looks forward to traveling and reading when time permits. Nancy lives in Atlantic Canada where she enjoys the relaxed pace and colorful people. She invites you to visit her website (www.nancyfraser.ca) and follow her on Twitter (@nfraserauthor). Or, more importantly, just enjoy what she writes.
Nancy also blogs, and is on Facebook and Goodreads:
Thank you, Nancy, for the enjoyable read and the happily ever after. And thank you, readers, for taking the time to read my opinion on Nancy’s book. Be sure to check back next week. There’s always a new post, at least once per week. Until then, happy reading!
