One Last Call for Madison Falls

Ready for a little small town fooling around? I found a book that’s the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, from fellow LSB author, Susan Behon. It’s One Last Call, Book 4 of the Madison Falls Series, and it releases today!

Background:

One Last Call, Book 4 in the Madison Falls Series, centers around Sarah Brandon, Sophie’s sister who was introduced in Book 1. Sarah owns the Suds and Spuds, a popular bar and grill where most of the characters hang out and attend karaoke night once a month. Sarah leaves work one night and gets into a car wreck while avoiding hitting a deer in the middle of the road. Her long lost love, Josh Logan comes to her rescue. They soon find out that the car wreck was no accident and someone is out to hurt Sarah. Josh is determined to protect her and win her back in the meantime. There is a thin line between love and hate. Their arguments turn heated and their kisses even more so! Old flames burn hotter in Madison Falls.

The Skinny:

Stranded and needing a rescue, the last person Sarah Brandon expects to be her knight in shining armor is Josh Logan. One kiss at a time, Josh is out to prove that he would slay dragons for her if she would only give a lost love found a second chance.

Who is this Susan Behon chick?

How about a few teasers?

~They’d been done for years. Over and then some. Touching Josh out of necessity now should be no big deal. No problem. She was a grown woman now. Besides, he was an ass…with a nice ass. Shut up, Sarah.

~“Hey there, Sarah sunshine.”

An achingly familiar, deep baritone with a sexy southern drawl drifted through the window on her left. There was only one man who had ever called her “sunshine.” She didn’t want to turn her head and see Josh Logan attached to that voice.

Maybe she could fake deafness and he’d go away?

That theory was shot to hell when he murmured, “Hey there, darlin’. You okay?”

Sarah snapped. “Do I look okay to you?”

In her frustration, she’d managed to turn her head to look at him. He was barely lit by the console lights. Still, the full impact of his blue-eyed gaze hit her like a slug to the chest. Oh. My. It was Josh all right.

He still had that same chiseled jawline that she used to love tracing with her lips. The bastard hadn’t even had the decency to go bald and fat.

~“You flipped the switch. You’re using verbal foreplay to lure me in!”

“Verbal foreplay? Honey, this is the way I talk.” He ran a hot fingertip down the side of Sarah’s neck in a slow glide. The tone of his voice became wickedly indulgent. “I can’t help it if you like it.”

“I don’t like it!” Man, I’m such a liar.

“You little liar. I remember everythin’ you like.”

~Her mouth went dry from seeing Josh up close and brightly lit. Sarah managed a nod as she took in his faded blue T-shirt that showcased defined biceps and a broad chest. The washed-out cotton encased a stomach that was still annoyingly flat. A hint of a tattoo on his upper left arm peeked out of the short sleeve. Sarah couldn’t make out what it was. From what she could see, the design looked intricate. She wanted to push up that sleeve and explore him…no, wait, explore the tattoo. Not him. Definitely not him.

~Josh soothed her with nonsense and the strength of his arms around her. “Come on, sunshine. It’s all gonna be all right. If all that hell wouldn’t have happened, I wouldn’t be here right now, sittin’ smack in the middle of heaven, holdin’ you.”

~Josh, you underestimate my love for bacon and my…”

“…hatred of me?” Josh wished he wouldn’t have reminded her of it.

“I don’t hate you.” Sarah’s expression shuttered, and the vibrancy she’d shown while they were bantering disappeared.

“You don’t? What would you call it, then?”

Sarah closed her eyes and let out a deep, frustrated breath. “Look, it was a long time ago. I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s forget it and move on, okay?”

Josh opened her door and helped her up as gently as possible. He started the truck, and they drove along in silence for a few moments.

“No.”

~“No, it’s not going to work. Whatever you have in mind, you can forget it. These aren’t the good old days, and I’m not some naive teenager ready to melt over a Southern twang and some sloppy kisses.”

“Whoa, wait. What do you mean sloppy? My kisses were never sloppy. You used to love my kisses. You weren’t complainin’ back then.”

“I didn’t know any better. Live and learn.”

“When I kiss you—and that’s a when, not an if—the last word you’ll be thinkin’ is sloppy. That’s if you’ll be thinkin’ anythin’ at all.”

“Aren’t you sure of yourself? One thing hasn’t changed. You’re still as cocky as ever. You can forget it. There is no when; there isn’t even an if when it comes to you kissing me. Dream on, bud.”

Here’s a tasty sample:

“Don’t scream, sunshine. You’ll wake up the neighbors.” Josh was reclined on top of her covers, bare feet crossed one over the other and his hands tucked behind his head. His black T-shirt stood out starkly against the pastel colors of her quilt. His faded blue jeans were slung low and outlined his lower half to perfection.

Sarah didn’t know what had her heart pumping faster, getting startled by seeing a man in her bed or the actual sight of that sexy man reclining on her bed like he belonged there.

“Josh?” Sarah hissed. “What the hell are you doing in here? How did you get in? You better hope my mom didn’t hear you!”

He sat up and ran his fingers through the short layers of his tawny brown hair before rubbing the back of his neck. “Am I the only one here havin’ déjà vu?”

“How did you get in here?”

His grin was anything but innocent. “You should lock your window, darlin’. Anyone could climb on in here.”

“What if my mom heard you? You could have woken her up!”

“Doubt it.”

“Why is that?”

“She’s not here.”

“She’s not?” So Sarah had been tiptoeing for nothing? “How do you know?”

“She’s still with my dad.”

“At this time of night?” Sarah felt ridiculous as soon as she asked the question.

“Yep. Guess they’re havin’ a slumber party.” He raised his eyebrows in innuendo. She ignored the images that volley brought forth.

“Then why didn’t you knock and come through the front door like a normal person?”

“I was feelin’ nostalgic.”

“You’ve never climbed in my bedroom window before.”

“I know. But I wanted to.”

Interview With An Antagonist

More Than Words is the second book in the Madison Falls series. Ben and Tracy, best friends of Reed and Sophie, get their turn for romance.

Tracy King, the cupcake queen, has given up on getting her prince charming to notice her. After over a year of coming to her bakery, Ben Carrington, tall, dark, and…quiet, has yet to ask her out. Little does she know that Ben likes sampling her cupcakes, but his real craving is for a taste of Tracy.

A leaky roof on a rainy night leaves Tracy swamped, literally. Ben brings her home with him, knowing that actions speak louder than words. Tempting Tracy into romance is easier said than done when secrets from her past come back to Madison Falls with a vengeance. Ben has a secret of his own but can’t let it keep him from protecting his lady love. Will he finally tell her his true feelings or will he be silenced for good?

We all know how important antagonists are to romance. They help readers relate to the hero and heroine, and they often help the hero and heroine grow and fall in love, even as they are usually working to keep them apart. All month, I’ve been featuring antagonists on my blog, affectionally nicknamed Mad May. Today is no exception. I’m interviewing Luke King, the antagonist from the second book in Susan Behon’s Madison Falls series.

MoreThanWords

TT: Tell us about yourself. Do you consider yourself your author’s muse or bane of her existence?

LK: (Takes a long drag from his cigarette and gives a smarmy grin) I’m Luke King. I’m Tracy’s dad. I’m out of prison and looking for my share of my daughter’s success. I’ll do whatever it takes (legal or not) to get my due. She owes me. I suppose I’m my author’s muse since she had fun writing my dialogue.

TT: What do you think readers will like best about you? Worst?

LK: Readers won’t like me much. There’s nothing to recommend me, except that I’m damn good at being bad. The readers will probably hate me, in fact, but so what? I’m getting my money from my daughter no matter what it takes. That girl will learn to respect her kin.

TT: Wow, that’s a, um, unique perspective coming from a parent. Let’s see if we can lighten this interview up a bit. What’s your favorite beverage?

LK: (Stubs out cigarette and lights another. Blows out a stream of smoke through yellow teeth) I got a fondness for Wild Turkey and Southern Comfort. Give me the hard stuff. Beer’s for pansies.

TT: How about food? Do you prefer vegetables or meat?

LK: (Leans back and leers) I like meat. How about you, honey?

TT: (Looks down at notes and dreads the next question.) Um, do you prefer to sleep in the nude or in your pajamas?

LK: Hell, I don’t know. Most times I pass out in my boxers. What kind of man wears pajamas?

TT: (Hesitates. I should have come up with different interview questions.) Lights on or lights out?

LK: They’re all the same in the dark, darlin’. I don’t need to look at them when I fu… (Clears throat, likely after my outraged look) when I’m knockin’ boots.

TT: (Folds paper with pre-written interview questions and pushes it to the side.) Okay, let’s take this in a different direction. Are you married?

LK: Nah, the bitch left me years ago. I got my eye on lots of women. (Gives me a once-over as he takes a drag of his cigarette.) Ain’t you a pretty little thing?

TT: Um, thanks. But I’m taken. And no offense, but I like a guy who’s more into seduction, treating a girl like she’s a queen.

LK: Seduce? I don’t need to seduce when they’re asking for it. A slut might say no, but she means yes. Not that I’m listening.

TT: Well, this interview is certainly veering far, far off track. Can we focus on Tracy, your daughter, for a moment? Do you want to talk about your relationship?

LK: I wish that selfish kid of mine would see that I need that money more than she does. A girl’s supposed to take care of her daddy.

TT: Especially one who clearly loves her like you do.

(Luke sneers. I can’t tell if he gets my sarcasm or if he just doesn’t care.)

TT: If you could rewrite one scene in the book, what would it be? How would you rewrite?

LK: Now that would spoil the surprise, baby girl. I would rewrite one scene, but you’ll know what I mean when you read it.

TT: Fair enough. Here’s another one. Has your author ever put you into an embarrassing situation?

LK: Embarrassing? I don’t get embarrassed. What do I care what uppity people think?

TT: How about this. Is there anything specific in this book of which you are particularly proud?

LK: I got a few spots I’m right proud of. I teach Tracy and Ben, that boyfriend of hers, what happens when you don’t show due respect.

TT: I have a real bad feeling that isn’t exactly something a normal person would be proud of. Well, I think maybe it’s time we bring this interview to a close. Do you want to add anything before we part ways?

LK: Buy the book and you’ll see just how far I’m willing to go to get what I want. Ben tries to stop me, but he can’t stick with Tracy all the time.

TT: (Shudder) Well, thank you for this enlightening interview. I have to say, I want to read this book just to ensure you get your come-upance, to tell you the truth. And that’s a wrap, readers. Thank you to Luke King for taking the time to meet with me today. I think. Anyway, if you’re as curious as I am, you can pick upLuke’s book, More Than Words, below, and you can check out Luke’s very talented author via her social media links as well.

I Found A New Book Boyfriend!

On today’s Appetizing April blog, you get a character interview and an author interview! It is my pleasure to introduce Susan Behon, author of Fall For You, available now through Liquid Silver Books. First, let’s hear from Reed Sutton, the hero from Fall For You, who has a thing for the owner of the local bakery, Cookie Jar. Then we’ll hear from Susan, the creative force behind this fabulous book.

*

TT: Tell us about yourself. Do you consider yourself your author’s muse or bane of her existence?

RS: My name is Reed Sutton. Since coming home from the Navy, I’ve taken over management of my family’s construction company. I’d have to say I’m Susan Behon’s muse. She loves to write about me since I make an awesome book boyfriend. What? It’s true!

TT: Ha ha. I love an awesome book boyfriend. Especially one with a sense of humor. With that said, what will readers like the best about you?

RS: Readers will like my sense of romance and my drive to make Sophie Brandon mine. Did I mention I like to talk dirty during love scenes?

TT: Funny, sexy, determined, and talks dirty? Oh my, you are a true book boyfriend! Who is the lucky lady in your book?

RS: Sophie Brandon is in my sights as the future Mrs. Sutton. She runs a bakery called the Cookie Jar in our hometown of Madison Falls. I’d have to say that she has it all: Beauty, brains, and a heart of gold. Did I mention she’s also sexy as hell?

TT: Maybe you are both lucky, eh? Okay, you seem like you’d be up for a little naughty fun. Favorite place to seduce your partner?

RS: My favorite, so far, is the cab of my pickup truck. We, uh, got creative since we missed out on making out back in high school. Don’t tell Sophie I told you that.

TT: My lips are sealed. What do you wish Sophie understood about you?

RS: I wish Sophie would understand that she’s my top priority and no one will keep us apart.

TT: You sound determined. Another check in the positive book boyfriend category. Tell me this, if you could rewrite one scene in the book, what would it be? How would you rewrite it?

RS: I would rewrite the scene where Sophie and I get hot and bothered in the storeroom. I would cut out the part where my best friend, Ben, interrupts us.

TT: Oh no! Speaking of, any other embarrassing situations in your book?

RS: I mention Sophie’s decorative underwear in front of my family. I was in the hospital so no one can hold it against me.

TT: Yes, I think we can say you were under duress! Is there anything specific in this book of which you are particularly proud?

RS: Well, there is the interlude in the truck…

TT: And there’s that sense of humor again… All right, it’s time to wrap up this interview.  Would you like to add anything else?

RS: Read Fall For You and get to know me. You’ll love Sophie too.

Now, let’s learn about the fascinating lady who came up with Reed’s story!

AuthorPhotoSusanBehon

TT: Let’s start with the basics. Tell us a little about yourself.

SB: I graduated summa cum laude with a B. A. in English and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I put my career on pause while I enjoyed the glamorous life of being a stay at home mom. My high school sweetheart is also my husband of over 20 years. I also confess that I have a mad addiction to romance novels and Reese’s Cups.

TT: Now, tell us one incredibly strange or unique thing about you.

SB: I’m a green eyed, left handed, triplet. I was the first born and runt of the “litter.” 🙂

TT: Wow, that’s definitely unique! Okay, are you a pet person?

SB: At this time, I have geriatric dog named Max. He made a guest role in Fall For You as Sophie’s dog. Sophie’s Max was much smarter but I love my Max anyway.

TT: I understand. The newest addition to my family, Kaya, was featured in one of my books, too. How about seasons – winter or summer?

SB: I am a summer girl! I am usually freezing from October through April. I’m a big fan of heat and sunshine.

TT: Okay, one more: red or white?

SB: If we’re talking wine, I adore merlot and moscato. To be honest, I prefer the cheap Arbor Mist fruity flavors with the twist cap bottles to the real stuff.

TT: Hey, everybody has a favorite. I’m a big fan of wine, and my tastes vary from $4 bottles to far more than I have a right to spend on a bottle. Now, let’s get to the books. In which genre (s) do you write?

SB: I write contemporary romance.

TT: Is there anything specific that inspires you? How did you come up with the idea behind Fall For You?

SB: I get my ideas and inspiration from real life. I am an observer of human nature and I find that truth really is stranger than fiction. The idea for my last book is based on a real life dive behind a table of bread in an effort to avoid being seen at the grocery store. The rest is completely made up.

TT: How many books have you written?

SB: I have written two books and have a third in progress. The first book, Fall For You, Book One in the Madison Falls series, was released on March 2. The second book, More Than Words, is due out May 11, 2015.

Fall For you is a contemporary romance set in the small town of Madison Falls. Sophie Brandon and Reed Sutton heat up her bakery when they run into each other again.

The second book, More Than Words, is a continuation of the series. Ben Carrington and Tracy King get their turn at love.

TT: Readers love to know: how steamy is Fall For You?

SB: According to LSBooks, it’s rated a level 2 Spicy. The relationships are definitely consummated in detail, repeatedly. 🙂

TT: Excellent! Er… *clears throat* That was a little excited, eh? Is this book part of a series?

SB: This book is part of the Madison Falls Series. It is set in the small town of Madison Falls. Reed Sutton is back in town after 8 years in the service. The construction manager is home to stay and cookie baker, Sophie Brandon, is undeniably drawn to him.

Each book follows their friends and family as they get their chance at true love.

TT: Do you have a favorite excerpt you want to share here?

SB: Here’s a quick teaser:

Reality intruded when Sophie realized she was covered in powdered sugar, the heel of her shoe was jammed under a shelf, and Reed hadn’t let go of her yet. The bad news was that her chance at wowing him with her frilly green sundress had bit the dust. The good news, obviously, was that Reed hadn’t let go of her yet.

TT: Oh my, that’s great! Do you have a website? How about social media? How can your newest fans stalk you?

SB: I’m everywhere! 🙂 You can find me at:

TT: Now, before they get lost in Reed and Sophie’s story, ask my blog readers a question, which they can answer in the comments below.

SB: What is the sexiest quality/attribute that you look for in a romantic hero?

TT: I think I’ve already answered this question for myself, above. Can’t wait to read what others think. Okay, Susan, thank you for joining us today! Now, for the important question: How can we read your books?
